When I cycled to Iran - About fear and feeling displaced | Bikepacking documentary
🚲 Hey there, fellow travelers! 🌎
Welcome back to my channel! I'm Giant Cheerio, a bikepacking adventurer exploring the world on two wheels since 2021!
An unconventional bikepacking journey through Iran.
This cycling adventure is different than everything I have experienced before.
Stranded right before the border of Iran with a broken gear shifter we find ourselves relying on the kindness of strangers during the first 200 km of our bike trip into Iran.
The discomfort, fear and uncertainty that I feel reveals a profound lesson and unexpected connections.
This is not just a bike trip, it's a testament to the transformative power of unconventional travel experiences in Iran.

    Hello, welcome to Iran ❤⚠ as an Iranian living in Tehran, take care of yourself. The government may even harass and rob you in the form of ordinary people, so that you regret your trip to Iran. Apart from these, people are very poor and their money is the most worthless money in the world, and they have a hard time leading their lives, that's why the possibility of theft is possible at any moment. However, I wish you safe travels.

    As an Iranian this video hit different. There is no question that there's a huge difference between people and the government and as a foreigner you had the rights to be afraid of all those images the media put in your mind. Hope you enjoyed your stay here and this experience changed your opinion about Iran❤

    The fact that western media have brainwashed the world into thinking Iran and Iranians are such backward or horrible people really saddens me. As an Aussie visiting Iran many years ago, i found Iran to be very safe and the people to the most welcoming, hospitable i have seen throughout my travels across the world. We need to get the message out there and not let media and western government from brainwashing us the way they do

We're not into decipline like u germans😅😅 we live in the moment we barely plan our decisions in calendar or excell😅😅😅 2. We're not on time like u guys so don't get mad if someone u wait for is late here.. but I can assure you our trains are exactly like yours😅😅 as a matter of fact not only trains but everything 😅😅 3. We don't have that much regulations and laws like you have.. I mean we have them but most of the times we don't pay attention to rules😅.. . . . Take these 3 tips for now until I watch your next video 💁

      @@giantcheerioYes but no propaganda to make it exciting for people to watch. Honest respectful way is to be polite, honest and no bias opinion( propaganda) to help your views. Like one part of video you said offensive words like "Oh! Why the guy went out of his way to take us to Tabriz in accusive negative way. Maybe your English the wording you used was not as good. You might mean well but you come across someone who is angry. He was super kind to you thank him and praise him . Using fowl language is rude. Some viewers are older.

      @nalotaller9844 День назад

      Also, perfect example of polite & nice people on RUclips are the Australian family with two kids went to Iran they loved it and they were very respectful and did not use political views to make their video popular. I did enjoy and commented about how polites the young kids were. Positive view of the world or anything= Success in anything in life. Negativity= Domino effects of bad stuff like putting one match front of 10 matches you push it all matches fall that is called domino effects.

      Also, would it be appropriate for me to go to Germany as tourist and criticize the government there? Is the same everywhere. Also, saying Iran is not as safe. Women could walk on streets no one bothers them. No women could walk on streets in USA not be raped, killed or gun down. In USA women or even men do not walk at night after 8 pm. They get robbed or killed . I will research if in Germany a woman could walk by herself after 8 pm or during morning walking and getting raped. Truth being told. It is not up to tourist to comment on government of the country they are visiting unless their attention is to use propaganda to win viewers. Some viewers are very smart and educated. How many countries you visited that women have two degrees and speak two languages? This is positive truth it is Iran .

    8:39 - This is how mainstream media can confuse people by just picking and showing the negative parts of a country. Myself, as an Iranian who has lived outside of Iran for a long time, was affected by these negative clips from Iran by Iranians outside of Iran and foreign media. Then I stopped watching and listening to them. Instead, I follow RUclipsrs from Iran who walk in the streets and show raw footage. Now I want to go back to my country and visit it.

    How do you actually drink water on the bike pictured in the video? It looks like you’d probably have to stop and unstrap the bottles behind the fork. So, they’d be great for carrying extra water when there’s none accessible on your route, but where is your quickly accessible water? I’ve been missing out on long trips for too long (decades!) since I got carbon and aluminum racing bikes and need to just do it as you say in your first video. Like I did originally when I started biking. But I worry about everything. I see people using the behind the seat long bags for overnight trips, but I also see them moving around a lot, which looks annoying for a long ride. I recently tried using a small top tube bag a family member gave me again (used it before and forgot which I didn’t like it), but unless I’m really careful my knees will hit it or road roughness shake it and it’ll get loose and tip over (the phone is at the top, so it’s already top-heavy). I’m wondering if the ones you use are narrower and what you keep in them. Trying to save my jersey pockets from getting stretched out. But my main question is about water access.

    • @giantcheerio
      @giantcheerio 2 дня назад

      All my bottles are used for carrying water over longer distances or for the night when I find a campsite. The only bottle I drink from regularly is the one in my snack pack, which holds 1 liter. When it needs a refill, I have to stop.

    Iran is not stumbling into the digital world, but with humanity but consistently. It may sound strange to some, but you can practically smell the freedom. You can stop anywhere without a policeman bothering you. You are not stressed and are always left in peace. It's true! I could tell you more. I don't know it like that in Europe. A fundamentally different world.

    As an Iranian living in EU I know our hospitality might be overwhelming for you especially Germans. My advice is just get used to be treated differently good because Iranian people are obsessed with showing they are different from their government and we are kind to everyone. When people do "Tarof" just accept it and enjoy it and be sure they don't want anything in return just your happiness and satisfaction. Have a fun trip #Woman_Life_Freedom for Iran 💚🤍❤️
